When I was young I was always playing sport. Football was the main sport of choice, closely followed by Cricket. In my later teens I also started running just to help keep fit. When I was 19 I ruptured my ACL, which ended my football career, and for the next few years I became a couch potato, putting on weight and having no desire to exercise at all.
In my mid-to-late 20's I found I was missing the exercise, and the adrenaline that went with it, so started running again just to keep fit. I took part in a couple of local races, but did not really get into racing as such.
It was not until my mid 30's that I decided that it would be a good idea to step up and do a marathon. London was the marathon of choice, so thats what I did. Through a next door neighbour of my parents, I got involved in training with the local triathlon club to help get me through the marathon... the rest is history!
After that I was hooked... running soon became cycling, and triathlons. After a while I got the urge to compete in an Ironman, and in 2017 I completed Ironman Lanzarote.
After that I took a bit of a break, only cycling for fun when I felt like it, and spending more time with my family.
Now I am back cycling regularly, and also on a mission to positively affect peoples lives on a daily basis.
My Coaching experience boils down to 1 day coaching a team of 12 year-old misfits at a 5-a-side football tournament in 1999 - which we ended up winning!
So why am I am member of the Okhane Coaching Team I hear you say? Well, that is a good question... I am passionate about helping to change peoples lives for the better, and like to pass on my experience and knowledge gained from my training and events that I have taken part in. As time goes on look out for training tips, event and product reviews, recipes and various other little bits of information that could make a difference to your future races and life in general.
I have experience in Running distances from 5km up to Marathon, as well as Cycling sportives and various distance Triathlons.
