The Basics of Plogging

Plogging combines jogging and collecting rubbish into one activity, designed to help keep you fit and active, while having a positive impact on the environment.

Plogging was created in 2016 in Sweden, and spread to the rest of the world in 2018. As a workout, it provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting and stretching to the main action of running, hiking, or walking.

How to Plog

  1. Put on your trainers ready to jog/run
  2. Select a suitable bag to hold your collected rubbish. We recommend the Okhane Plogging Bag.
  3. We recommend wearing gloves when picking up waste.
  4. Get out and jog/run around, picking up litter whenever you see it, and storing it in your bag.
  5. When you get home, dispose of the waste in the correct bin (general or recycling).

That is it - pretty simple!

Why not vary the type of rubbish you collect when plogging. Collect recyclable waste one plog, and general waste on another plog. This way more of the waste we collect can be recycled, keeping it out of landfill.

Why not keep yourself motivated to plog at least once a month every month and join in the Okhane Virtual Plogging challenge and earn yourself some bling to show off.
